Assignment One
For this assignment, you need to knit something with a cable pattern. The what is left up to you, based on what sort of item you want to make. To get you started on ideas, I've included a few suggestions below; if you've got a different idea, though, or just need help finding something you like, send us an email for approval or advice.
Suggestions
- Aran iPod Cover is aptly named and rather nice-looking;
- Coronet, "a simple stocking cap with a pretty cabled band";
- Dr. Montville's Double Helix Seaman Scarf is a scarf with DNA on it, and it doesn't get much better than that;
- Knitted cushion cover with cables, a plain name for a gorgeous piece of knitting;
- Tasha, a knit bag with cable accents;
- Who?, a hat featuring the most adorable cabled owls ever;
- Ravelry's search for free cable patterns, for which you need to be logged into Ravelry to view the results.
Take a picture of your finished item and send it — as an attachment or a link, your choice — to knitting@cosmoschaise.co.uk, using the subject Knitwear Assignment 1 - ab123 (where ab123 is your HOL ID).
Due September 30th. Worth 30 points.
Extra Credit
Take a picture of your finished item in use — being worn, being used in some fashion, or just a really interesting, creative shot. Have fun with it. Send the picture (attachment or link) to knitting@cosmoschaise.co.uk. You can send it with the main assignment or on its own; if you send it separately, use the subject Knitwear Extra Credit 1 - ab123 (where ab123 is your HOL ID).
Due September 30th. Worth 15 points.
